INTRODUCTION:-

PROCEDURE:-

Operation of the lever gently lowers the needle on the test surface and slowly with-draws the panel by hand so that the needle makes a scratch on the surface. The camshaft lever is raised at the end of stroke to release the load. Upon the return stroke it is released by gravity. The test panel is moved to provide a new track, the load on the needle is increased and test repeated until the needle breaks through paint film, makes contact with the metal substrate and thus forms a circuit which is indicated by illumination of the lamp. Result is usually expressed as the maximum weights at which the paint will pass the test.

SCRATCH TESTER – AUTOMATIC

The automatic SCRATCH TESTER” is most suitable for research work or for the larger laboratory where repetitive quality control test are carried out. The results achieved are however, more reproducible since the human element is eliminated in this model. In this instrument the sliding panel is driven by a CONSTANT SPEED synehromous motor at a rate of 3 to 4 cms. Per second. The procedure of operation is similar with Hand Operated Scratch Tester.
